Trends in 2024 as seen by young QA and R&D staff
The end of the year is nigh and 2024 is on the doorstep. Every year developments in the industry lead to changes and trends. How do young Managers view the future? What changes in their professional field do they see coming in 2024? VMT asked young Product Developers and Quality Managers.
Nienke Hartman β Product Developer at Dutch Spices
βAt the moment I am seeing a broad-based transition within various product groups and I expect this to continue. This transition includes meat being replaced by plant-based products. Today we not only make seasonings for meat products, we are also developing new seasonings for other sectors. I think some consumers will opt for more sustainable and plant-based products while others will carry on as they were. I also see a transition towards a reduced use of allergens. This downwards trend will continue and become even steeper in the coming years. We are responding to this, including through our Dutch Spices brand. Finally I see a sharper focus on reducing sugar and salt. The authorities are taking active steps in this direction with the introduction of the Nutri-Score and the NAPV (Dutch National Approach to Product Improvement). I expect these reductions will become increasingly important in the coming years.β
