Analyses have shown that between 2018 and 2022 the number of new ‘free from’ products introduced on the food and beverage market rose by five percent. In nearly 50% of the cases the free from claim related to gluten.
In 2022 nearly half the new products that were introduced carried a ‘gluten free’ claim on the packaging. This has given consumers who wish to avoid gluten more products to choose from and more variety in their diet.
‘Palm oil free’ is the fastest growing claim: an increase of 19% between 2018 and 2022. More and more consumers and manufacturers are opting for palm oil free products as a way of combating deforestation.
