Butcher Westy visits butchers The Meat Joint in Essex for a demo full of inspiration about fresh ready-meal concepts and traybakes.
Butcher Westy promotes Dutch Spices’ sauces during a demo in Surrey
On Friday 6 October Butcher Westy gave a very successful demonstration for Surrey Hills Butchers’ two shops. Dutch Spices sauces and marinades played starring roles in the dishes Butcher Westy prepared on the spot.
The demo-day was extra special for Jonny West, alias Butcher Westy, because it enabled him to introduce Dutch Spices to Simon Taylor, the owner of Surrey Hills Butchers. Simon has two successful butcher’s shops in Oxshott and Tongham in the County of Surrey, southwest of London. He is also the ‘Captain’ of Team GB Butchery – a team of six of the best butchers in Great Britain that regularly participates in (international) butchery competitions. In 2021 Simon invited our Butcher Westy to join this team of talented butchers. They began training together and became good friends.
Tasting on the spot
During the demonstration to the butchery team Butcher Westy focused primarily on the Dutch Spices sauces. He talked about the importance of pre-prepared products and dishes and explained how the changing seasons play a role in determining what butchers should display in their counters. Everything Westy and the butchers prepared during the demo-day was immediately cooked on the spot so Simon and his team could see and taste the quality of the Dutch Spices range.
Positive and inspiring
Using Dutch Spices’ sauces the team made Thai Green Curry, Meatballs in Tomato and Herb Sauce, Smoked Barbecued Chicken, Teriyaki Chicken and Hoisin Chicken. With the Dutch Spices’ marinades they created two delicious chicken products. The result was positive and inspiring. Simon and his butchers thoroughly enjoyed the dishes and found the sauces delicious. The fact that the Dutch Spices sauces are allergen-free is, in their opinion, an important selling point.
Twelve buckets
The day after the successful demonstration Simon ordered 12 buckets of Dutch Spices-sauces. He also promised he would switch to Dutch Spices marinades as soon as his current stock of another brand is used up.
